The food industry has reacted at an incredible pace and is reinventing temporary services and offerings daily. The virus&#8217; invasion&#8217; has disrupted the entire industry, primarily dine-in facilities; the entrepreneurial spirit has led to a considerable increase in takeaway or delivery services and reconsidering intensive engagement with customers. The food industry has faced many historical challenges, it is fluid and resilient and will bounce back with more verve and strength, however this will take a bit of time. The change will be in phases, and some countries will be ahead of others. However, we cannot stand still and be complacent; we have to revolutionise the industry and offer changing services to an expectant community. Many employees have lost their jobs due to restaurant closures. These people will also have to change and adapt to a new way of working. This is a global journey. Strength, motivation, empowerment and a &#8216;never give up&#8217; attitude are essential for driving positive energy into the new future in general and into the food industry in specific, being an \u2018entertaining\u2019 and \u2018human\u2019 sector.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-286dd807 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"286dd807\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Observe<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-18cc3134 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"18cc3134\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>Restaurateurs, \u2018foodpreneurs\u2019 and operators will need to get back to work, observe, monitor and contribute to industry transformations and learn from leaders and changemakers. Operators and consumers will need to adapt and find the &#8216;new normal&#8217;. There are currently so many unanswered questions about the direction in which <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Restaurant\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">restaurants<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will there be a buffet-style restaurant business?\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will customers still want to dine in a restaurant, or will they prefer home delivery?\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will there be new guidelines issued by the World Health Organization and concerned government entities?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will Covid-19 disappear for good? If yes, then when? If No, what\u2019s next?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will the vaccine be available soon, and when the confinement is going to end?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What will be the consumers\u2019 behavior post Covid-19?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/prevent-getting-sick\/social-distancing.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">social-distancing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> going to continue, and for how long?<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We need to leverage learnings from this observation phase whilst monitoring, strategizing, managing our current business, negotiating with landlords and key suppliers to tighten the relationship through supporting each-other financially by reducing rent fees and specific contracts and agreements. We need to be ready for a quick reaction and an immediate adaptation when we reach the next phase.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-40cb2632 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"40cb2632\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Operate\n<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-52779845 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"52779845\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>After the observation phase, the industry will revert back to \u2018normal\u2019 operations though they will have to respect new guidelines, consumer behaviour and the new \u2018lifestyle\u2019. Within the new guidelines, there will be consideration of table distancing, higher levels of hygiene, cashless payments, staff wearing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/N95_mask\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">masks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and gloves, electronic doors and the serving of condiments and I am sure many others. Businesses will change and will continue to thrive.
